GRIFFITH

014 | BRISBANE GIRLS GRAMMAR SCHOOL 2022

T his year’s motto for Griffith House was Unleash your spider, let the red shine brighter . Our motto encapsulates what it means to be a part of Griffith House, always full of spirit and pride. Since the beginning of the year, Griffith seniors have strived to encourage girls to embrace their individuality and support each other in doing so. In Term 1, we kicked off the year with a House Party, where we saw everyone decked out in Disco attire, full of enthusiasm ready to battle it out on the dance floor. Term 2 and 3 consisted of Interhouse Cross Country, Choir and Athletics, where we saw Griffith ‘unleash their spider’ to achieve an amazing second, fourth and fifth place, respectively. It was amazing to see so many spirited girls coming together to support the team. The highlight of 2022 would be our House Assembly competition, the Griffith Games, where each Year level, along with a team of teachers, battled it out in a series of trivia, obstacle courses, and Just Dances. It was great to see all the girls getting involved and starting off the day with an enthusiastic (and competitive) smile. This year, we proudly supported Eat Up, a non-profit charity that delivers school lunches to Aussie children in need. Due to the cancellation of Open Day, 11R showed great initiative by using the chocolate, originally for the lob-a-choc stall for a bake sale, to raise money for Eat Up. Additionally, in Term 4, the Griffith Service Captains held a sandwich-making afternoon to support the Eat Up charity and supply lunches to children around Australia. We also ran a

push-up competition that supported the Push For Better Foundation, which raises awareness for mental health. Griffith girls came together in House Group to smash out more than 14 000 push-ups over the month of June. We are beyond proud of the drive and generosity displayed by Griffith girls this year, truly channelling the motto in everything we do. Thank you to our House Group teachers for their ongoing support and enthusiasm (and competitiveness) throughout the year. We are also extremely grateful for our Head of House, Mrs Thomas, who brings the magic to every House event. We are honoured to have led the most amazing group of girls, who have embodied our motto and created a fun and supportive environment for everyone.
